In the times we’re currently facing, one doesn’t need to be a scholar to know how fear and worry have gripped the hearts of many people. The news is filled with reports about how supermarkets are struggling to keep up with meeting the increasing demands of people, wanting basic home essentials like toilet roll, pasta, tinned foods etc.

All this stems from the fear people have about whether or not they are infected with the Coronavirus and should ‘self-isolate’; wondering if ‘we have enough’ to get through this self-isolation period? What if there’s a lock-down? Questions are also raised about the welfare of older family members and those considered vulnerable. People are worried about their jobs, homes etc…

With so much uncertainty and worry, I am reminded by the question Jesus poses to His disciples (Luke 12: 25-26): “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” You see, our fears and worries are the results of the realisation that our ability to affect the pandemic we currently face is very limited.

So we say to ourselves: “Well, if I don’t take these actions, who will do it for me? Who can I turn to whilst our governments and world leaders are still trying to figure out what’s going on? Who can I trust to have my back and provide for me and my loved ones?”

The answer my friend is, God through His son Jesus Christ!

Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.” (Luke 12: 22-23)

We don’t even need to worry about the basic needs of life. God understands the needs of His creation and He is more than willing to meet our needs, but experiencing His provision requires FAITH

However, most of us have turned our backs on God and fail to acknowledge His existence. Therefore, we fail to see Him as the Person we really need to depend on in these times. What God desires is that we seek Him, get to know Him and understand the great love He has for us through Jesus Christ, His Son.

If you want to know, who’s got your back in these times and beyond….the answer is God’s got your back and I encourage you to turn to Him, to Keep calm and trust GOD
