We never expected the Easter season to be the way it is this year!
Many of us, would have been getting ready for Easter services and others, for chocolate eggs. But like so many other things in our lives, Easter’s been halted by the Corona-Virus pandemic.
As we approach the near 3-week mark of quarantine, we are all probably wondering, when will it end? For others, who have been in isolation a bit longer, this question can be the first thing that comes to mind and the last thing we think of, at the end of our day.
I pray that we can be encouraged at this time and continue to look to our hope:
Our God, who overcame His type of quarantine.
Who else knows what we are facing but Jesus? His entire life, was one of separation so that you and I would have a chance of eternal life. Isn’t it wonderful to know that Jesus can empathise with us? Hebrews chapter 4 verse 15(a) reminds us of this: “This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.” [NLT]
Good Friday represents so much more than Jesus’ most agonizing point of isolation. For Him, it was separation from the Father. For us, it is a sign of freedom.
On that Easter Sunday, Christ broke forth in all His glory. He unshackled us from the wages of sin and death. Since we have such a great example in Him, let us be confident that we too can overcome this time in our lives. Jesus reminds us in John chapter 16 verse 33 that we too can have peace and overcome because He has overcome the world: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” [NIV]
Friends, our Sunday is coming! Let’s hang on!
